January__March: Top 4 Books I Read.

Standard

Salam dear readers,

I hope you’re doing great.. In the past 3 months, I read a total of 19 books.  Although I did not enjoy many _most_ of them, but still, 19 is a good number for a start. It’s also much better than the same time last year. I wanted to include 5 books in here, but I decided to talk  about 4 only.

Three Men In a Boat

(((( Read the Instagram caption ))))

I’ve just finished reading this book. It took me awhile to read it, but I read most of it in the past 3 days, so I think that is a good thing 📚📚📚📚📚 “Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need – a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends, worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a pipe or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing. ” ☺📚☺📚☺📚☺ I give it a 4 ☆ out of 5. At first, I thought of giving it 3,5 but it’s worth more. It made me smile, laugh, and think. It is full of knowledge, and it just brushes up my British history knowledge. At some point, it can seem hard to follow, specially with the heavy description of London streets, rivers, and monuments. But it’s just a unique book. I don’t know why, but while reading it, it keeps reminding me of Charlie Chaplin and all those silent funny movies. I imagined the characters as those actors with their outfit, hats, and all those beautiful characteristics. It is also based on real events that the author and his friends experienced, so that’s definitely a plus. The book shows that the author is a man of experience, that he knows what he’s talking about, that he has a very smart sense of humor, and that he’s wise. I really recommend this to all of you dear readers, especially to the ones who like a good funny British classic. 🔭📚🔭📚📚🔭📚🔭 That's it… I’m going to go back now to reading my other Arabic book 😊☺😊 #me #reading #books #bookstagram #bookphotography #bookworm #morocco #marrakech #instalike #instagood #beauty #nature #igreads #currentread #whatareyoureading #boat #classic #كتب #اقرأ #كتبي ر

Guns

My favorite read of the February , this very very short book was a gift from myself to my mind. In short, it talks about guns in the US, precisely. It is brilliantly written, it doesn’t take time, and you (all of you) should go and read it now.

Communication Across Cultures

I had to read this book for a class assignment. We were assigned to read the book, give a summary in Arabic, and translate a part of it into Arabic, along with other things. This was a very useful read. It takes time, but it is worth it. I had to read some chapters 3 or 4 times to avoid misunderstanding or misinterpretation; but again, it was worth it. If you are a translation student or just interested in translation, I would highly recommend this.

عائد الى حيفا

I actually didn’t like this book at first, meaning the first pages. I’m glad that I didn’t stop there. While progressing,  I liked every aspect of the story. The dialogue was so strong and powerful. You can actually sense all the feelings the author wants to convey, and I like that. If you’re an Arab, if you can read Arabic, and if you like a short books (it’s 76 pages long) that makes you feel, read this one.

“أتعرفين ما هو الوطن يا صفية ؟ الوطن هو ألا يحدث ذلك كله.”

That’s it for today. Talk to you soon insha’ALLAH.

January_March: Things that I enjoyed in the past 3 months

Standard

Salam dear readers,

I hope you’re doing great.  Today I’ll share with you some simple things that made me happy, or rather things that just made a change in my life in the past 3 months.

Books

Reading 19 books in the past 3 months made me so happy, even though I didn’t enjoy many/most of them, but that’s OK.

Book hauls

I bought several books that I’m so excited to read,

A classical book haul, YAAYYY 💃💃💃💃. Yesterday, my little sister went to this book expository in #Casablanca, and I asked her to buy me some books if she was able to find them, and she did 💕💕💕💕 These are 6 beautiful classical books that I wanted to read and have my own copy of for so long. I really loved the covers, and I know I’m going to enjoy reading them insha'ALLAH 😊 😊 😊 I jumped from joy when I got them 😊😊 A little quote of mine: Happiness is a bunch of books you hold in your hands 😇😇😇 You’re going to see a lot of this in my profile for sure 😊😊😊 PS. Many thanks to mom, dad, @hafssachahbane, @mido.mouad, and @sarra_chahbane. Love you all 💕💕💕💕 See the magic of books 😀😀😀😀😀😁😁😁😁 One more thing, which one do you recommend me to start with? And what do you think of the covers? #me #reading #books #bookstagram #bookphotography #bookworm #study #blogger #followme #morocco #2016 #marrakech #rain #prideandprejudice #janeausten#classics

and also my brother brought me this amazing copy of this amazing book

Me Before You

I’ve never ever seen a movie thriller and felt that I want to see the film right now like I did. I also wanted to go, buy the book, and read it. I didn’t do it, but this thriller is one of the best ones that I’ve ever seen. I’m not a romantic person , at all, but I actually was about to cry  watching this. If you haven’t watch it yet, watch it now. You can thank me later.

Leonardo Dicaprio winning the Oscars

I’m sure that I’m not the only one that was happy to see this finally happening. This man is an amazing actor,  and he definitely deserves it.

Morning runs/walks

No need to speak, this is the best thing that you can start your day with.

This one

Try to watch this without crying.

Simple things can and do make us happy, remember that.Talk to you soon insha’ALLAH😊😊😊

It’s Up to You

Standard

Salam dear readers,

I’m happy to be finally back. I know I don’t write as often as I should do, nor as often as I want to.

Today, I decided to write a very random post, just chatting with you. This is a post for all of us to get organized, and to do do more things in our lives.. This is me talking out loud to myself and to all of you.

What can we/ should we do to make our life more effective? How can we make everyday a happy day?

It’s Up To Us.

Here are some small things to do so as to be more effective. These are some of the things that I’m already doing, things that I always try to do, and things that I will start doing.

kakp

Use your online time effectively

Instead of spending hours and hours in checking social media, chatting, or basically doing nothing, we can spend this time learning new things, discovering new cultures and greeting new knowledge. An example of this for me would be watching TED talks. These talks are wonderful ways to learn new things. They make me think of new creative things.

Make “to do” list and a ” did” list

I started doing this when I was really young, especially the “to do” list. It really hepls me in doing many things. It would make you very organized, and it will help you identify what you want to do, what you need to do, and what you have accomplished.

Start leaning something, a new thing

Focus on learning a thing, a special thing. Whether it was a new language, or a new craft, the most important thing is to use your free time effectively.

Wake up earlier

Yes, it’s a very simple step, but very hard. We like sleeping, and sometimes we don’t get enough sleep at night, or we spend late hours in reading or watching something that we replace that time in the morning, specially on holidays and weekends. You need to stop that. Wake up earlier, and go for a run or a walk. Personally, I love doing that. Do something that you love.  This will help you getting more organized, and using your day effectively.

Read, Read , and Read a lot

Did you think that I’m going to write a whole post on how to be more effective without even mentioning reading, books, and reading? Silly you, of course, I will. Reading is essential. If you can read, and you don’t, then you are making the worse outrageous crime against your own self. Go and read. Understand what you’re reading, and use it. I will say it for the million times: Reading is living.

That’s it for today. I hope you’ll find these steps helpful, and you will start using them.

Do not forget to like and share this post if you did like it. I will talk to you soon insha’ALLAH.

To Mom… A woman like no other woman

Standard

Salam dear friends,

Two days from now, we’re going to celebrate International Women’s Day ❤

BLOG

We don’t have to wait until this day to celebrate and defend women’s right. We don’t have to wait this day to show our respect, love, and appreciation towards women that shaped who we are 🙂

Today, I decided to talk first about the woman I love the most. I want to talk about an amazing human being who helped me, raised me, took care of me, and loved me.. I wan to talk about my mother ❤ ❤ ❤

My mom is the strongest woman I’ve ever seen. Despite the problems and difficulties she had in life, she was and still very strong, and that made me even stronger 😀

She’s smart, creative and problems solver… With a help from my dad ( my loving supportive dad 🙂 ), she raised me in the way I think each one of us should be raised 🙂

She is the prettiest woman I’ve seen. I know you’re going to say that the reason why I’m saying this is because she’s my mother, but not just this… She is beautiful, inside and outside 🙂

She taught me how to respect myself and other women and men. She taught to never consider myself better or be arrogant. She taught me to care about my family and friends. She taught me how to love, accept, and appreciate others.

Mom, I love you. There is no enough words to express how I feel towards you.. Thank you for being here, thank you for being my mother ❤ 🙂

Happy International Women’s Day 😉

My Book Review: All For You

My Book Review: All For You

Salam dear friends,

It’s been a while since I shared with you my readings, and the books that I’ve read lately are just beautiful.

I’m really happy that I had the chance to read them, and I’ll share them here very soon insha’ALLAH 😉

My book for today is All For You by Sheila O’Flanagan.

sheila

I thank my friend for giving me this book and telling me ” read it, you won’t regret” and I definitely did not 😀

The book is about Lainey,a weather forecaster who loves her job and does it very well. Lainey tries to find happiness and to make her dreams a reality. It is about family. it looks at mother, daughter and grandma relationships. In the beginning of the book, you can clearly see the difference between Lainey and her mother, Deanna. Her mother is a feminists who devoted her life to the women cause, leaving Lainey with her grandparents. And there are some long-concealed family secrets 😉 😉

I have mixed feelings for both Lainey and Deanna… I loved the grandmother ❤

Deanna claims she did that for the sake of Lainey and to the cause of all women, and it’s true but she did it for herself (first). I did not like her that much, and I think that she’s strong but at the same time, she’s very weak.

At first, I did not like Lainey choices, and how she reacts towards men, how she sees every man as a future husband, and how she will give everything for that thinking that her life won’t be good if she did not have a husband or a boyfriend. She made me think of this song:  It describes her perfectly in some point. At the end, she realizes that she can be alone and happy at the time, she starts taking decisions, thinking about her life in a whole different way… And it’s good, just good 😉

This book is good because it’s the story of a mother and daughter, and how different people choose to live. The book is about realizing who the important people in your life really are. It’s easy to be read 🙂

517 pages full of… LIFE.

As soon as I began reading it, I couldn’t put it back… You love it 🙂

I really enjoyed reading it 😉

Humans of Morocco: Amine Mghari

Standard

Salam dear friends,

This is a new section of my blog, where I introduce to you Moroccan young people who have made me feel prouder to be a Moroccan.

hom

The first person whom I’m going to talk about is someone that really deserves our appreciation and encouragement. I don’t know him personally, and I’ve never met him before, but I really like what he’s doing 🙂

 amine

Today, I choose to talk about a young Moroccan man, whom I think you should all know… Amine Mghari is a talented, creative and adventurous Moroccan. He chose to leave the normal life, and start living a life full of adventures. He travels to different parts of the world making us discover new cultures and new ways of living.

I started watching his videos on his YouTube channel three months ago, and I love the whole thing. Amine tries everything. He tries new food, learn new words, start new way of living, and meet new people: new friends. I’m sure his experience made him learn so much about himself, other people, and the world.

What is really amazing is that he teaches other people more things about Morocco. He makes people from other countries say words in Arabic, know about the Moroccan culture, and be familiar with Arabs. He sends many strong messages through his videos.

When you see his videos, you just want to grab your bag, and do like him. I truly think that we need more people like him in Morocco.

I’m not going to say more things. I would really like to know this young man and ask him as many questions as possible ( maybe, someday)  But for the moment, I recommend to go and see his videos, subscribe his YouTube Channel, and like his page 😉 🙂 🙂

Amine Mghari, you made me feel happy, proud, and lively… Thank you dear Moroccan brother for what you’re doing 🙂

#NotInMyName: Islam and I.

Standard

Salam dear friends,

This post is for all the people who want to know the real Islam, the real Muslims…#NotInMyName.

Muslim-know

When I was a kid, I knew I was a Muslim. Of course, when you’re seven (or less), you don’t really understand what does it mean to be a Muslim. I started learning what my religion is about, and what ALLAH asks me to do. I feel blessed for the fact that I was born and raised in a Muslim family.

My father taught me how to pray, he taught me that a part of being a Muslim is praying 5 times a day, and I got used to it. In fact, it’s a daily habit that makes me feel blessed, and happy. My mother gave me the Quran, and told me that this book that I’m holding is my way of living, my constitution, and since then I made it my companion… I’m not saying this to convince anyone of the reality of Islam… Islam talks for itself. It does not need me or you to make it “good” or “pretty”.

Why I’m telling you this ??

Again, I’m not here not to convince you, or make you accept me as a Muslim… No, No.

I’m telling you this to make you know that as a Muslim, I was raised in a very normal way… To make you aware of the real Islam, the real Muslims.

As a Muslim, I was taught to believe in Adam, Jesus, Ibrahim, Moses, Lot, Mohamed ( and the list is long), and that without believing in them my Islam is not complete.

As a Muslim, my father did not ( ever… never) make a difference between me and my brother.

Islam gives me as a girl all the rights that I need and want… I don’t need no one to tell me what my rights are, cause I already know them, I already have them.

Don’t bother yourself and feel sorry for this poor Muslim girl who lives in a “prison” as you call it, who suffers, who’s been treated as a ” slave”, and who can’t go the school, or work or even talk, isn’t that what you’re trying to convince every single person in your society, in my society, in the world ?? Well, you did it, congrats.. But, I don’t think that people will keep on believing you anymore.

Do not judge Islam and say that it is a religion where women don’t have equal opportunities (equal rights);  just because some countries don’t give women the right to study, to work, to drive, to vote, or simply to choose… This is that country’s problem, Islam has nothing to do with it.

 know more

As a Muslim, I was taught that killing is a crime.

Why should I be punished for the things that some ignorant nonhuman -who think they’re Muslims- did.. I don’t think I should.

I take my religion very seriously, I consider it as my way of living.. But you don’t see me killing people… This is because that as a Muslim (a real one) I was taught that if I killed one person it”s like killing the whole nation, the whole world.

There are people who make “the hate of Islam” their career; they keep all day talking about the same old topic: Islam is danger. What they mean is that if I saw a christian or a Hindu passing by,  I’ll change the way, I’ll curse and I’ll even kill… Really ?? Well, thank you for making me know that deep deep inside me, there is a criminal, a monster, a nonhuman.

And what Makes it even worse is that people believe them, people are now afraid of Muslims. What they forget is that Muslim are ordinary people who live in an ordinary way..We don”t have a different blood color.  Our prophet Mohamed (peace be upon Him) dealt with other people from other religions in a beautiful way that can be described in this verse of the Quran “To you be your religion, to me be mine.”  Just take a look at the life of the prophet, and you can draw a picture on how he dealt with different religions, You’ll see that “tolerant” is the perfect word to describe it.

 Muslim-know

As a Muslim, I start the day by saying: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم  ” b-ismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīmi”, meaning: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, we say that too if we want to eat, to go out, or to do any other daily activity… Our whole life is based on mercy.

As a Muslim, I’ve learned that respecting others is an obligatory.

As a Muslim; I was taught that smiling to other people is a charity.

As a Muslim, I was taught that we all have equal right.. There is no difference between black and white; woman and man; rich and poor.

As a Muslim, I was taught that I have to treat others the way I want to be treated.

As a Muslim, I was taught to love my parents, my sisters, my brothers, my neighbors, my whole society.

As a Muslim, I was told to read, to collect information, to have an open mind.

As a Muslim, I was taught that I should not talk about a person behind his back.

As a Muslim, I was taught to not spread information, before making sure it’s right, and true.

You made it a fact that Muslims are terrorists, that Islam is a religion of terrorism; and it’s wrong.

Before saying that Muslims are terrorists, read the Quran, understand it, then talk.

Before telling me that I’m a terrorist, ask terrorists to which religion they belong.

tt vv

Do not judge Islam based on the actions of some Muslims.

Not because some people who call themselves Muslims commit such horrible crimes that I should be seen as a criminal.

My name is Kaoutar, I’m a Muslim, I want peace, tolerance, and respect… No war… No violence… No terrorism.

My name is Kaoutar, I’m a Muslim… When I meet you, I’ll begin with saying السلام عليكم:  As-salamu alaykum… This is our way of greeting, and it literally means: “peace be upon you”.

My name is Kaoutar, I’m a Muslim, I’m proud to be a Muslim, and I’m NOT a terrorist.

I’m ashamed that still in the 21th century, where information is more available than anytime before, I’m still defending and explaining my way of living to others… I’m still explaining what the second-largest religion in the world is all about.

I wonder when it will come the day where I will say the word “Islam”, and every one will get it with no need to explain it…

Maybe, someday, maybe, one day…

a MUSLIMM
