Book Review: The Stranger.

Salam dear friends,

Hope you’re doing great 🙂

My today’s book is The Strange, by Albert Camus… I finished it 2 days ago, and I can’t stop rereading it. It is a book about us, humans. It was written in 1942, during World War II. The book is very interesting: once you hold it in your hand, you can’t just put it away. The story is written in a brilliant way, that it makes the reader thinks that he’s a part of it.

“Maman died today. Or maybe yesterday; I can’t be sure.” This is how the novel begins, and from this first sentence, I can feel that I’m going to read something good… That’s how I thought 🙂

When reading the story, I felt like I’m reading a personal diary of Mersault, the main character of this novel. Mersault is more or less a careless person, who lives his life the way he wants to, without any significant passion (or emotion) . He doesn’t think much about what people say or think about him. He says what he thinks of, and doesn’t speak unless he has something very important to say. What I liked most about him is his honesty.

I felt bad for him, but in the same time I liked the whole character. When his mother dies, he doesn’t cry, or feel any change, he doesn’t even want to see her for the last time, and it’s sad. We may think that he doesn’t like his mother, but it’s not true, he’s used of being that way. He sees death as a fact of life. Reading this book, you may feel that Mersault is a stranger, But I think we all are strangers in one way or another.

The life of Mersault changes at the end of the first part. He is forced to face a meaningless universe. He is out in the beach, when his friend is followed by a group of Arabs, and Mersault shoots one of the Arabs. Here the story begin to change in a strange way. The simple details begin to control the life of a man, an ordinary man who is described as being a monster. We can call it bad luck or destiny, or we can just call it life.

There is more to say about the novel and about Mersault, but I’ll stop here.  I won’t talk about the end, because I think you should read the book to know it. I would only say that this book is amazing. It is a timeless classic that speaks to your soul, not your mind.

Quotes to share from the book:

“If something is going to happen to me, I want to be there.”

“Since we’re all going to die, it’s obvious that when and how don’t matter.”

“I realized then that a man who had lived only one day could easily live for a hundred years in prison. He would have enough memories to keep him from being bored”

“I felt the urge to reassure him that I was like everybody else, just like everybody else.”

That’s it… Talk to you soon Insha’ALLAH

Words to share

words to share

Be there for them

But, don’t wait them to be there for you

Help them

But don’t expect them to help you

Love them

But don’t ask them to love you

It’s life

We’re here to help, love, be…

It’s life

You’re here for me, and I’m here for you

But don’t expect me to live just for you

More lessons to share…

After sharing with you some major lessons that I have learned in 2013, I keep thinking of other useful lessons that maybe will change the way we live.

1)Be yourself

Don’t try to be somebody else. You are amazing, we all are amazing in one way or another… 😉 It’s up to us to see who we are and be proud of it. We have the right to be who we want to be… Be yourself, everyone else is already taken 😀

2)Don’t hate

I know, we don’t like to hate people, but sometimes people do things that make us dislike them. What we don’t know is that by doing that, we make ourselves sad, unhappy, and depressed. Try to be better.Try to avoid that, and try to be Happpppppppppppy 😀

3)Accept the other

When I say the other, I mean by that : your friend, your brother and sister, your neighbor, the people in other countries, the people who have different religion… Accept the way they think, live, behave, dress… Accept who they are so they can accept you. We can not talk about freedom if everyone of us decided to be in his tiny little closed world, isolated from everyone else just because everyone else is different. Remember: if we were all the same, the world will a boring place to live in. Our differences make the richness of the world.

These amazing lessons are for me and you, so we can try to change in one way or another… 🙂

Talk to you soon Insha’ ALLAH 🙂

In 2013, I have learned this…

2013 was a good year. I met a lot of wonderful people, I discover new parts of my personality and I learned many many lessons. Today, I want to share with you some of the lessons that I will try to adopt in 2014 Insha’ALLAH 🙂

1)– Change is always good

We don’t like to change, we try (sometimes) but we feel safe to be in the same place with the same people doing the same thing and thinking in the same way. Well, change is good, very good… Try to do it, try again and again. You will feel different but in a good way. What’s better is to make the people around change, it’s hard but it’s possible 😉

2)-Don’t be afraid

Fear is good sometimes; but when it keeps you from doing  what you love or anything else, it becomes dangerous.Don’t be afraid and even if you feel so, ask yourself: “What would you do if you weren’t afraid ??”.

3)– Look for possibilities

Possibilities are everywhere, just open your eyes and look. They give you new ways of living, thinking and acting… Possibilities do not limit you, They show you reasons to live and they make you discover who you truly are.

I have many other lessons that I will share with you soon Insha’ ALLAH 🙂

Happy new year to all of you 😉
